"Christoformity"
Big Ideas: What is forming you, Christ or culture?
What we are consuming, what we allow to speak into our minds and hearts is conditioning us. We are either being molded to look more like Christ, or molded to look more like the world around us.
"Christoformity" is the process of being conformed to Christ. The process of Christ slowly forming us in His image.
If you are being molded more everyday into the image of Christ, it is going to change the way you see and engage the world; it is going to change the way you view the Church, the Body of Christ, and participate in Christian community; and it will change the way you respond to those who oppose and mistreat you.
Read Romans 12 before jumping into the questions.
Q1: What was most interesting or encouraging to you this week?
Q2: What was most challenging or raised questions for you?
Q3: What is forming you, Christ or culture? In other words, what are you consuming? Is Christ the primary one forming your day or is something else?
Q4: As Paul emphasizes in verse 3-13, it is important to have a diverse church composed of individuals with different personalities, born in different places and cultures, and with unique gifts and abilities. How has God uniquely created and gifted you and how have you seen God utilize those giftings within the church?
Q5: In verses 14-21, Paul discusses how to engage non-Christians, and particularly those who oppose or mistreat you. Paul closed the chapter with this: “But if your enemy is hungry, feed him; if he is thirsty, give him a drink; for in so doing you will heap burning coals on his head.” Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.
How do we overcome evil with good? What are some practical ways to live this out in daily life?
