The disciples want Jesus to have the people "help themselves." Instead, Jesus tells them to help the people.
Often we're a lot like the disciples... it's easier if people just help themselves.
We're so prone to believe something like this because...
1. It makes me feel better about me... pride
2. It gives me an excuse not to help someone... it excuses my sin of omission.
The essence of the Gospel isn't that God helps those who help themselves, but rather that God helps those who don't (Eph. 2:1-5)
