Prayer
Already / Not Yet
The heart of prayer is a desire for transformation
Matthew 6:9-13
9 “Pray, then, in this way:
‘Our Father who is in heaven,
Hallowed be Your name.
10 ‘Your kingdom come.
Your will be done,
On earth as it is in heaven.
11 ‘Give us this day our daily bread.
12 ‘And forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors.
13 ‘And do not lead us into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For Yours is the kingdom and the power and
the glory forever. Amen.'
"To transform home is to transform the world."
-Diana Butler Bass
"How we pray is how we are formed...The primary purpose of prayer is not to get God to do what you want him to do – but to be properly formed."
-Brian Zahnd
Prayer is not asking God to make something happen, but seeing ourselves as the means through which God is changing the world.
"To clasp the hands in prayer is the beginning of an uprising against the disorder of the world."
-Karl Barth
There is a stream of love flowing from the heart of God to the world, prayer is jumping into the current.

Matthew 6:9-13 (MSG)
Our Father in heaven,
Reveal who you are.
Set the world right;
Do what’s best—
as above, so below.
Keep us alive with three square meals.
Keep us forgiven with you and forgiving others.
Keep us safe from ourselves and the Devil.
You’re in charge!
You can do anything you want!
You’re ablaze in beauty!
Yes. Yes. Yes.
