Don't be a Pharisee

In Luke 5 Jesus heals a paralytic man whose friends bring him to Jesus and He calls Levi, a tax collector, to be one of his disciples. Two stories with some common chords that tie them together. In both stories we see Jesus hanging out in homes with smaller groups of people. Jesus made this a regular habit... so should we. In both stories we see Jesus' love and compassion for sinful, hurting people. And in both stories, we see the lack of love and compassion from the religious leaders of the day. The contrast between the heart of Jesus and the heart of the religious is on full display.
