A Patient Pursuit of Faithfulness

Big Ideas: For most of us, our natural response to affliction is retribution and retaliation.

Suffering has the propensity to reap destructive behavior.

When suffering tests our character, our call is a patient pursuit of faithfulness.

We grow patient faithfulness through committing to the Rule of Life and by being compassionate toward others despite our own suffering.

Read Gen 40 & 41 before jumping into the questions.

Q1: What was most interesting or encouraging to you this week?

Q2: What was most challenging or raised questions for you?

Q3: Do you agree with this idea that maybe our culture is so attracted to villains because, in a way, we want to be like the villain?

Q4: Talk to your group about a time that you, or someone close to you, acted out in retribution because of pain and suffering that they experienced.

Q5: How can you as a group encourage and push one another to live in a patient pursuit of faithfulness (Rule of Life & compassion)

Action Step: Read the Serenity Prayer every day this week and seek to grow in patient faithfulness.

A) Have you had a chance to take this step? If so, tell the group about your experience.

B) If not, how can the group help you?
